Climate-KIC Spain is the Spanish representation of the European initiative Climate-KIC.
The office was stablished on 28th October 2014 with its headquarters at the Botanic Garden in Valencia (third largest city in Spain), providing a clear physical presence for Climate-KIC and becoming the centre of low-carbon activities, expertise and advice in Spain. It aims to achieve all different goals in fighting against climate change defined by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT).
The mission is to boost and facilitate the development of a low carbon economy, through new opportunities in terms of climate change in the Mediterranean basin.
Its vision is to identify in the territory all different actors who have the ability as well as the knowledge, to encourage innovation on climate change and its adaptation.
With an area of 505,990 km2, Spain is the largest country in Southern Europe, the second largest country in Western Europe and the European Union, and the fourth largest country in the European continent. By population, Spain, with more than 46.5 million of people, is the sixth largest in Europe and the fifth in the European Union, after Italy.
