EIT Climate-KIC launches open-access database to map start-up ecosystem, now worth €11.8 billion in combined enterprise value

Climate start-ups supported by EIT Climate-KIC are now worth more than €11.8 billion in combined enterprise value, raising more than €1 billion in 2022 so far. This information is generated from our new online start-up ecosystem database, powered by Dealroom.

The custom EIT Climate-KIC database is specifically designed to support the scaling of climate tech communities with reliable data and intelligence on climate tech-based start-ups, innovation, investors, funding rounds, and insights on sustainability trends across Europe.

The platform combs data from public sources and user contributions and then verifies the information to provide one comprehensive look into the diverse stakeholders that make up the EIT Climate-KIC start-up ecosystem.

Users can filter through nearly 1,000 verified start-ups and scale-ups that participated in one of our accelerator programmes and search everything from companies’ funding rounds to number of employees.

The platform uses machine learning to uncover actionable predictions such as EIT Climate-KIC’s “future unicorns” – Zolar, GrowUP Farms and Ÿnsect – which are privately held start-ups on track to be valued at over $1 billion.

Different ways to use the platform:

  • Investors can discover Europe’s fastest-growing climate start-ups and source deals.
  • Dealroom’s matching tool helps founders research potential investors directly on the platform.
  • Policymakers can identify key trends about their target sectors.
  • Young professional can filter job openings based on location, role, market and type, size of the company and more.

Start-ups, investors, or ecosystem stakeholders can add their own company and organisation details to enhance their profile, providing open access to real-time data for our entrepreneurship community.
