Increasing the fuel efficiency of trucks
Our product is a retractable cover, which joins the cab and trailer together on large US trucks when they travel above a certain speed. This can save approximately 6% of the fuel used thereby saving $2bn per year and reducing carbon emissions of the USA by 0.25% if rolled out to all eligible trucks.
There are approximately 15.5 million trucks operating in the U.S. Of this figure, 2 million are Class 8 tractor-trailers on the road (with new 250,000 class-8 trucks manufactured annually), which have a gap greater than 1.5 meters between the trailer and the cab. This gap is responsible for 28.5% of the air resistance on the vehicle.
