A hot spot for climate innovation
Climate-KIC Germany is the first place to go for game-changing climate innovation. The German office drives the development of scalable high impact climate change solutions with its programmes and its community of the most innovative companies, researchers, start-ups and students.
The German Climate-KIC office is based in the heart of Berlin at EUREF-Campus, an historic industrial site that was turned into an innovation campus dedicated to a low-carbon future – the perfect place for Climate-KIC’s German operations. And a perfect place for the Climate-KIC community to gather, as the Campus and Climate-KIC offers lots of spots for community exchange.
In our office almost 20 employees run our innovation, education and entrepreneurship programmes and work closely with the Climate-KIC students, start-ups, partners, innovation project consortia and all interested stakeholders who want to be inspired by the Climate-KIC approach to drive climate innovation. 5 Core Partners and 19 Affiliate Partners collaborate with Climate-KIC Germany in order to drive cross-sector climate innovation.
Climate-KIC attaches all activities to a theme of the climate change challenge. The national office Germany is responsible for facilitating all Climate-KIC operations regarding Industrial Symbiosis (including supervising the flagship progamme enCO2re) and Sustainable City Systems. Furthermore, Climate-KIC Germany runs the Open Innovation Slam, a pan-European idea competition organised in cooperation with a corporate or academic partner.
Climate-KIC Germany operates its own start-up incubator in Berlin – the Green Garage is the only dedicated cleantech incubator in Germany.
