Who we are Our governance Climate-KIC International Foundation

Systemic change through action and innovation

We aim to achieve this by targeting the areas of human activity that have a critical impact on greenhouse gas emissions – cities, land use, materials and finance – in order to create climate-resilient communities.

Objective & Mission

At the heart of Stichting Climate-KIC International Foundation is our mission to catalyse systemic change through innovation in the areas of human activity that have a critical impact on greenhouse gas emissions – cities, land use, materials and finance – and to create climate-resilient communities. This mission is urgent and increasingly recognised internationally.

The objective of the Foundation is to contribute, in the broadest possible sense, to the protection of nature and the environment, including the enhancement of sustainability, in aid of the common good, both ecological and human, by way of innovation of climate change mitigation and adaptation, and by stimulation of education and research in those fields.

The Foundation shall seek to attain this objective not least through:

  • Raising of funds to support the object and any initiative, project or research in connection therewith; and
  • Entering into partnership or cooperation agreements with organizations with a similar object as the Foundation, provided that this is conducive to or connected with the realization or promotion of the object of the Foundation.

Supervisory Board

The Foundation Supervisory Board is the key governance body for Climate KIC, supervising the organisation on our path to achieving our mission and vision. It monitors the policies pursued by our Executive Board and the general course of affairs at Climate KIC. It further provides advice, ensuring that our underlying objectives are considered in the day-to-day management and policy setting of our organisation.

Board members receive no remuneration for their work; they are compensated for any expenses made in the course of exercising their duties, including travel expenses for board meetings.
