ClimateLaunchpad – Wanted: Green business ideas to fix climate change

Delft, The Netherlands, 1 March 2020 – Starting today, the seventh edition of global green business ideas competition ClimateLaunchpad opens for applications. The programme, supported by EIT Climate-KIC and TU Delft, helps aspiring entrepreneurs grow their cleantech ideas into global businesses. Think of innovations in adaptation, renewable energy, food and agriculture, water, transportation, industrial technology, or any other way to tackle climate change.

The ClimateLaunchpad formula has proven time and time again to be the key to climate positive business success. The Dutch scale-up Felyx (2016 National Winner), recently announced a 24 million in investment to maintain their position as the Benelux market leader in electric shared scooters and to expand within Europe. The textile waste tracking and trading platform Reverse Resources (2015 Estonian National Winner) announced its role in the Circular Fashion Partnership which includes major fashion brands such as Bershka and H&M Group.

New applications are welcome from anyone in a participating country with a promising cleantech idea who dreams of becoming an entrepreneur.

Selected participants start off their rigorous training with an intensive digital Boot Camp and Coaching Sessions to prepare for their National Finals. The top-3 of all competing countries will pitch their ideas at a Regional Final and the top teams advance to the Global Grand Final in October 2021. In 2020, the top three teams hailed from Bangladesh, Uruguay, and India with ideas tackling clean mobility, regenerative agriculture, and carbon capture, respectively.

ClimateLaunchpad supports the most promising cleantech ideas with business training. The start-ups benefit from the green network which sets them up to move forward to create climate impact.

“I don’t just see it as a competition; I take it as a learning experience to shape our business. You may think your idea is great, but growing that idea into a great business is something else. ClimateLaunchpad can really help you do that.” – Gopal Kumar Mohoto, Founder of CASSETEX, the 2020 Global Grand Final Winner.
