Climate change is reshaping global agriculture. Persistent droughts, devastating floods, and unpredictable growing seasons are creating immense challenges for farmers worldwide. Smallholder farmers, who produce a third of the world’s food supply, are particularly impacted as the natural systems they depend on become increasingly volatile.

At the same time, agri-food systems are one of the main drivers for climate change, accounting for one third of total man-made greenhouse gases. The whole sector needs urgent transformation, touching every aspect of how we grow, distribute, and consume food.

Climate KIC works across the entire food value chains, supporting farmers, governments, and industry as they reinvent the practices and systems that will feed our growing world population while protecting soils, improving nutrition, conserving biodiversity and reducing emissions.

How we do it

Climate KIC is supporting farmers, governments and industry to pilot and scale projects and demonstrations of sustainable food systems globally. Through our projects and community, we’re working towards a future of resilient, climate-positive farming that benefits people and the planet.

We help farmers

adopt climate-friendly and economically viable agricultural practices, reducing their environmental impact while adapting to a changing climate.

We connect governments and investors

with practical, community-led pilots that can be scaled and replicated across regions and countries. From renewable energy integration on farms to climate-resilient crop varieties, we're demonstrating what is possible.

We create meaningful dialogue

between farmers and policymakers, accelerating the transition to regenerative agriculture practices.

We build innovation clusters

that connect businesses, universities, entrepreneurs, investors, government agencies, and NGOs to strengthen climate resilience in rural communities. These clusters accelerate climate solutions, support green start-ups, create jobs, and attract sustainable investment.

As climate and food systems transform across the world, new approaches are emerging from both local communities and global innovation networks. In Tanzania, entrepreneurs supported through our Adaptation & Resilience ClimAccelerator are developing climate-smart solutions such as precision farming tools, resilient seed varieties, sustainable insect protein and improved nutrition security.

At the same time, in Ireland, cultural and creative perspectives are helping reimagine what sustainable food futures could look like by 2050.

The videos below highlight these diverse stories of innovation, resilience and imagination — showing how farmers, creatives, and communities are shaping the future of food in different contexts.

Deep Demonstration

We work with the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine to help Ireland achieve a climate-neutral food system by 2050 and reduce emissions from agriculture by 25% by 2030. In collaboration with stakeholders from both public and private sectors, including finance, education, and civil society, we develop and deploy coordinated innovation actions, while obtaining insights and lessons about a range of solutions.

Adaptation Innovation Cluster

Building climate-resilient rural communities through collaboration and innovation in Tanzania. This innovation cluster connects farmers, entrepreneurs, NGOs. Entrepreneurship Support Organisations and community leaders who typically work in isolation. The cluster supports adaptation solutions that build resilient rural livelihoods and regenerative landscapes by combining indigenous knowledge with modern innovation, showcasing how traditional wisdom and contemporary technology can work together to address climate challenges.

The European Carbon Farming Summit

As part of the Horizon Europe-funded CREDIBLE project, we work to establish viable methodologies, robust monitoring systems, and inclusive governance for land-based carbon removals. Through our annual summit, we bring together farmers, scientists, policymakers, and market actors to co-create solutions for climate-positive agriculture.
