Blue Climathon 2027

CO-WATERS Blue Climathons are local innovation hackathons that bring citizens, stakeholders and other relevant actors together to work collaboratively on water-related challenges and develop ideas and practical solutions for their communities. Climate KIC supports selected Coalition members who wish to organise a Blue Climathon in their city, region, island or port, providing guidance throughout the preparation process, including challenge definition, event design and facilitation, participant mobilisation, promotion and fundraising. Selected organisers will also have access to Climathon resources and branding, expert support and a dedicated online community for exchanging knowledge and experience with other organisers.

The Global Blue Climathon Days are set for 15-21 March 2027. All Organisers are invited to host their Blue Climathon during that week for increased visibility and impact of the movement.
About Climathon
Climathon is a decade-long global movement coordinated by Climate KIC of self-organised innovation hackathons. The Climathon community is now made of 600 organisers, has organised 1,000 events and engaged with over 30,000 participants worldwide.
About CO-WATERS
CO-WATERS is a Horizon Europe project running from 2025-2029, empowering waterfront cities, regions, islands, ports and their local partners and stakeholders to lead the transition to clean, healthy, and resilient marine and freshwater systems. It offers tailored services, such as networking, peer learning, trainings, citizen and stakeholder engagement, and funding advice, to help them take effective action.
Backed by 17 partners, including Climate KIC with the role of Technical Partner, CO-WATERS is building a strong, connected Coalition capable of achieving the goals of the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030.” The project will also develop the Label in support of the Mission Ocean and Waters, to be acquired by waterfront cities, regions and islands, recognising their efforts to contribute to the Mission objectives.
How to apply
Applications are now open for the first round of CO-WATERS Blue Climathons. Organisers will be trained and supported by CKIC.
