Transferring Circularity to Eastern Europe: From Strategy to Real Impact
The conference “Transferring Circularity to Eastern Europe: From Strategy to Real Impact” will take place on 12 March 2026 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in a hybrid format allowing both in-person and online participation. The event is organised by Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE, a European Union funding programme that supports transnational cooperation across Central Europe.
Bringing together policymakers, industry representatives, innovation actors and project partners, the conference will explore how circular economy principles can move from policy ambition to practical implementation across Eastern Europe. Participants will discuss how European cooperation, digital tools and regional initiatives can help translate circular economy strategies into concrete action and strengthen more resource-efficient and resilient economic systems across the region.
Climate KIC will contribute to the programme through a presentation by Marco Antonio Segovia Bifarini, who will share insights from Climate KIC’s work on circular systems innovation in Central and Eastern Europe.
Circularity in Eastern Europe: Strategic Outlook
12 March | 09:30–11:00
Marco Antonio Segovia Bifarini will speak in the session “Circularity in Eastern Europe: Strategic Outlook”, which brings together policy experts, regional actors and innovation leaders to discuss how circular economy strategies can be strengthened across the region.
In his contribution, Marco will explore why circular economy in Eastern Europe requires a strategic rethink and what lessons can be drawn from the Deep Demonstration in Slovenia. This place-based initiative has brought together policymakers, businesses and research organisations to experiment with new approaches to circular innovation, helping to translate strategy into concrete action.
The session will examine how policy frameworks, digital innovation and collaborative initiatives can support circular transitions across industries and regions. By connecting practical experiences with broader policy discussions, the panel aims to identify pathways for scaling circular solutions and delivering measurable impact across Eastern Europe.
