Recognise Green & Socialwashing: Climate KIC at INSUMMIT 2026

LOCATION
PGE Narodowy, Warsaw, Poland
DATE
15 Sep 2026 | 14:00–16:00 CET

As EU regulation tightens around environmental and social claims, one question is becoming unavoidable for brands and communicators: how do you make a credible claim, and how do you spot one that isn’t?

Climate KIC is taking part in INSUMMIT 2026, Central Europe’s largest festival of insight and innovation, as an expert partner in the workshop “Recognise Green & Socialwashing” (Rozpoznaj Green & Socialwashing).

The workshop runs as a speed-dating format built around parallel expert tables, each a short, focused exchange that gives participants practical, hands-on knowledge from a range of specialists. Climate KIC will host one of these tables, where Przemysław Derwich (Strategic Partnerships Lead) and Dr Aleksandra Gołdys (Policy Innovation Lead) will share knowledge and practical materials on how to identify green- and socialwashing, and how to communicate environmental and social impact in a way that stands up to scrutiny.

It’s a format designed for genuine exchange rather than broadcast: short, direct conversations with a broad audience of businesses, communications professionals, NGOs and experts, at a moment when getting these claims right has moved from good practice to regulatory necessity.

Why it matters

Environmental and social claims are under growing scrutiny, from regulators, from consumers, and from within the communications profession itself. New EU rules are raising the bar for what organisations can say and how they must substantiate it. For anyone building brands, campaigns or corporate communications, the risk of getting it wrong, whether through greenwashing or purpose-washing, is real and rising.

Climate KIC’s table brings a systems perspective to that challenge: not just how to avoid the pitfalls, but how to talk about climate and social impact honestly and credibly.

Practical details

The workshop takes place on Day 1 of INSUMMIT, Tuesday 15 September, from 14:00 to 16:00. Places are limited and allocated on a first-come basis: participants register for workshops through the INSUMMIT mobile app once they hold a festival ticket, with workshop sign-up opening at the end of August. Each attendee may join one workshop.
