EIT Climate-KIC CEO Kirsten Dunlop will be speaking at the first Forum on the Mission Adaptation to Climate Change organised by the European Union on 7 June 2022.
The Horizon Europe missions are the response of the EU to key challenges in select areas, aiming to provide concrete results by 2030. The Mission Adaptation to Climate Change aims at supporting around 150 regions and communities in Europe towards reaching climate resilience by fostering the development of innovative solutions. Because climate change affects different regions, sectors of the economy and members of society in distinctive ways, the Mission will engage with the widest range of EU regional and local actors.
The first Forum on the Mission Adaptation to Climate Change will bring together regional and local authorities, members of the European Parliament, of the Committee of Regions, research organisations and non-governmental organisations to take stock, to identify issues, to provide direction and to define the path ahead for the Mission. It will also present the situation in Europe regarding adaptation to climate change and will gather input from regions, including on intentions to participate in the Mission.
Kirsten Dunlop will participate in a panel discussion on the success factors for the Mission, alongside Markku Markkula (Vice-President of the European Committee of the Regions, Chair of the Espoo City Board and President of the Helsinki Region), Pirita Lindholm (Director European Regions Research and Innovation Network), and Valvanera Ulargui Aparicio (Directora General, Oficina Española de Cambio Climático, Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y Reto Demográfico).
The discussion will be moderated by Johannes Klumpers (Head of Mission Secretariat).
