EMS Annual Meeting 2026
How do we make sure climate services actually get used, and deliver real value to the people and sectors that need them?
At the 2026 Annual Meeting of the European Meteorological Society (EMS) in Utrecht, our colleague Antonia Matthies will present a poster exploring exactly that question, drawing on insights from the PCP WISE initiative on co-producing Earth-observation-based climate services for water resilience.
The EMS Annual Meeting is a hybrid conference running from 6 to 11 September 2026 under the theme “Delta Climate in Europe: weather, water, and warnings,” bringing together the meteorological, climatological and water-management communities to advance atmospheric science and societal preparedness in a changing European climate.
Co-producing demand-driven EO-based climate services for water resilience: insights from the PCP WISE initiative

Presented as part of the session “Values, Benefits, and Uptake of Climate Services: Co-Creation and Societal Impact,” the poster shares how Earth-observation-based climate services can be co-produced around genuine, demand-driven needs to strengthen water resilience. It speaks directly to a question at the heart of the session: how climate services move from being technically available to being genuinely useful, adopted and impactful in real-world decision-making.
