2026: A Global Outlook for Local Impact — Innovation and Technologies Shaping the Future of Agrifood Systems

LOCATION
Committee of the Regions, Brussels, Belgium
DATE
15 April, 13:00–15:00 CET

How do we move from global knowledge to local impact in agrifood systems? And what does it take to bridge the gap between climate ambition and the realities of farmers, communities and regions on the ground?

Climate KIC is participating in this high-level event hosted by the Forum for the Future of Agriculture (ForumforAg) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which brings together policymakers, researchers, innovators and practitioners to explore how technologies and innovations can accelerate agrifood systems transformation — at pace and scale.

Our Strategic Partnerships & Opportunity Development Lead, Dr. Saskia Visser, will be contributing to the discussion, drawing on Climate KIC’s work at the intersection of soil health, place-based transitions and EU–Asia collaboration. Her contribution will explore how European and Asian partners can move beyond knowledge transfer towards genuine co-learning, connecting policy, innovation, finance and practice to develop solutions grounded in local realities.

The conversation will touch on how the wellbeing economy can serve as a shared framework for translating climate ambitions into tangible outcomes, and how models like the EU–Philippines digital transition partnership illustrate what integrated, place-based delivery can look like in practice.
