J-StarX Global Growth for Climate Tech in Europe Program
European expansion programme
Open call for high-potential Japanese climate tech startups looking to expand into Europe
Europe’s markets, corporates and investors are actively looking for the technologies Japanese founders are building. The J-StarX Global Growth for Climate Tech in Europe programme, run jointly by JETRO’s Startup Support Division and Climate KIC, helps a select cohort of Japanese climate tech start-ups enter and scale across European markets, connecting startups to European customers, partners and investors.
The programme kicks off in Tokyo on 31 August 2026 and runs until March 2027. Five companies will be selected, with up to two participants each. Sectors span renewable energy, deep tech, sustainable mobility, circular economy, built environment, smart cities, and carbon management. Participating startups will take part in an intensive European acceleration programme. Entrepreneurs will be paired with an individual mentor, receive input from subject matter experts and travel one to two weeks on the ground in Europe, to attend 10-20 high-leverage business meetings.
