The Challenge
The eighth largest city in India with heavy industries and fishing adding to its economy. 70% of the households are dependent on Agriculture for income. The city has been recently shortlisted under the government of India’s Smart City Mission. Broadly to be a smart city it is essential to focus on the three elements: roads, water and electricity. We aim to link the issues with agriculture to the Smart City movement making the city also an agricultural hub. The key topics of interest are:
1. Smart Agriculture: How to create sustainable agriculture (example, improved irrigation, crowd-sharing of equipments, etc)
2. Apply energy saving technologies to create a sustainable fishing industry
3. Optimise traffic of heavy cargo and vehicles to reduce congestion
