Start-up Programme

France Edition

Climate-KIC France is seeking highly motivated and committed entrepreneurs for its entrepreneurship programmes. The call for application aims entrepreneurs and start-ups which have a breakthrough business idea, with a substantial impact on climate mitigation and/or adaptation. The application phase will run until April 15th, 2018.

Pre-selected entrepreneurs will be invited to pitch in front of an independent jury on April 25th in Paris. You only need one application to apply to all phases of the entrepreneurship programmes. The stage in which you might enter will be assessed internally based on the maturity level of your business idea.


Programme Overview


Your journey to an investible and scalable start-up takes you through four stages, each taking 6 months and with a special focus. All start-ups are eligible to attend Climate-KIC events, training and Master Classes events that take place throughout the programme. Notable events include the national and European Venture Competition and the annual Climate-KIC Innovation Festival.

The Climate-KIC Greenhouse is a pre-incubation programme of 6 months. It supports students and young professionals across Europe in the design of business models and to test the commercial viability for their idea around climate mitigation and/ or adaptation. The Greenhouse programme is implemented in close collaboration with the Agoranov Incubator which performs individualized coaching and mentorship to the entrepreneurs.


Each group is awarded up to 2500€ in order to develop their business ideas, e.g. in form of an actual prototype. 

How it works

Greenhouse

In three stages of six months each, our 18-month programme brings you the knowledge, resources, tools and coaching a cleantech startup needs for success in the market.


ACCELERATION STAGE ONE

Business Model Development

The first stage of the Accelerator is intended to help early-stage start-ups refine and develop their specific selling proposition and business model. Here the first prototype can be finalised and assistance is provided to obtain industry feedback. This stage provides access to training, mentoring and workshops, the Climate-KIC European contacts network and events.

Duration:3-6 months and grant: up to €25,000


ACCELERATION STAGE TWO

Customer Traction

The second stage of the Accelerator helps move start-ups with a well-formulated business model to the next phase: validation and customer acquisition. Teams can now focus on acquiring their first customers and an iterative process of business model validation whilst receiving continuing support from expert coaches and mentors and participating in programme activities and workshops. These more mature start-ups will be able to display their ventures in several internal and external showcase events growing their individual network.

Duration:3-6 months and grant: up to €25,000


ACCELERATION STAGE THREE

Delivery

The third stage of the Accelerator helps entrepreneurs translate validated business models into first transactions with first customers or investors.  Start-ups will pursue market entry with core product/ service in beached markets and achieve a meaningful number of commercial transaction that validate the core value proposition and/ or attract capital to progress into the next stage in the business development.

Duration: 6–9 months and grant: up to €50,000

Climate-KIC Accelerator

April 15th: Start-up call closes

April 25th: Jury session

April 30th: Results are communicated

Timeline

Convince our experts and we will invite you to a pitch day in Paris on April 25th, where you can present your business and answer questions from a jury made up of researchers, investors and experts from inside and outside of       Climate-KIC. You only need to apply once. This single application concerns all stages of the Climate KIC entrepreneurship programme. The stage in which you might enter will be assessed internally based on the maturity level of your business idea.


You will be informed about the definitive results of the selection process by the end of April.
