Black Bear upcycles end-of-life-tyres (ELTs) into high quality carbon black. Black Bear has set its goal to replace 60% of the different types of carbon black used in car tyres with its circular product by the end of 2019, and to further enable tyre manufacturers to improve on tyre performance. In doing so, they bring an innovative circular solution to two major global challenges in the tyre industry: waste streams of ELTs and sustainable supply of raw materials.
Each single line BBC plant reduces carbon emissions equivalent to the amount processed by 1 million trees per year, so naturally BBC is compliant with directive 2010/75/EU on industrial emissions.
Black Bear’s carbon black has received an official Cradle to Cradle Bronze Certificate. This is the first time that any carbon black in the market has received this certification.
