Welcome to Climate-KIC’s Marketplace, where investors can connect with climate change start-ups across Europe. To access and view details of the start-ups, you simply need to go to our website; in doing so you are agreeing to abide by our Website Terms and Conditions: http://www.climate-kic.org/policies/ If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you must not use our site.If you want to get in touch with a start-up, we need to set a few more terms and conditions. We have made two versions of the legal terms: ‘The Short Version’ which gives you an overview and ‘The Long Version’ which provides more detail. This should, we hope, make the terms easier to digest!

The Short Version

This section is a summary of the terms and conditions which govern your use of the interactive features of the website at http://www.climate-kic.org/marketplace/ (“the Marketplace” or “the site”). The full version of these terms and conditions (which you should also read) is set out below (under the heading “The Long Version”) but the following paragraphs set out the essential information you will need to start using the site.

Deal Stream

Deal Stream is only intended for certain professional and sophisticated investors in Europe, and not the general public. Although its purpose is only to provide information, it may be considered financial promotion or an invitation to invest under the laws of some European countries.

The content of Deal Stream has not been approved by an authorised person within the meaning of the UK Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. Reliance on information presented in Deal Stream for the purpose of engaging in any investment activity may expose an individual to a significant risk of losing all of the property or other assets invested.

By joining Deal Stream you are confirming that you meet one of the following criteria, as defined in the UK Financial Services and Markets Act or similar criteria applicable to another European country in which you are located:

  • Investment professionals: Persons with professional experience in matters relating to investments, or a person authorised by the financial regulator.
  • Sophisticated investor: If you are in the UK, either:
    • a certified sophisticated investor, having a certificate signed by an authorised person to the effect that you are sufficiently knowledgeable to understand the risk, or
    • a self-certified sophisticated investor because you are a member of a network or syndicate of business angels and have been for 6 months, have made more than one investment in an unlisted company in the previous 2 years, have worked within the last 2 years in a professional capacity in the private equity sector or in the provision of finance for SMEs, or have in the last 2 years been a director of a company with an annual turnover of at least GBP1,000,000.
  • High net worth individual: If you are in the UK, you must have signed a statement within the last 12 months confirming that you have had an annual income of at least GBP100,000 for, or held net assets valued at not less than GBP250,000 throughout, the financial year preceding the date on which the certificate is signed. Qualification criteria in other European countries may be different.

In European countries other than the UK, the categories of investor and criteria for their application may be slightly different; Deal Stream is targeted at the above and equivalent categories of professional and/or sophisticated investors in those countries and not at the general public.

If you do not fall into one of the above categories, please do not join or view the Deal Stream.
