The Suntherm system is based on thermal energy storage in phase change materials enabling storage of 20kWh worth of energy in a very compact unit.
Suntherm’s The PCM storage is connected to solar thermal panels eliminating the need for heat-pump operations for up to 6 months of the year. The system uses weather forecasts and electricity spot market price information to intelligently plan the production of heat – either based on solar when it’s sunny, or by heat-pump during the night when electricity is cheap.
Large scale adoption of the system will provide a significant contribution to CO2 emission reduction, as more than 60% of European residential energy consumption today is from CO2 emitting sources.
