Distributed energy storage solutions
PowerVault enables households with Solar Panels to store the excess electricity generated on their rooftop during the day and allow them to use it when they actually needed it. The Powervault device allows owners to use more of their own, green power and reduce the amount of additional electricity bought from their utility company by around 25%.
The lead product will be an integrated battery and control system developed from our prototype design (for which we have patents pending) with a target retail price of less than £1,000. This price point is now achievable due to the rapid price declines seen in commodity battery, inverter and telematics components. The devices will link into the internet, allowing central control and data management. In the medium-term PowerVault will be able to provide distributed storage services to utilities – for example peak load capacity management or avoidance of distribution network upgrade costs.
