Considerable resources are invested in developing innovative energy-efficient building-envelope solutions. In fact it is considered possible to create solutions which will meet nZEB (nearly zero-energy buildings) demands, be very energy efficient, safe and sustainable and have a good and healthy indoor comfort. But, these are generally not implemented on a large scale.

Internal as well as external barriers are impeding the market for climate-friendly building solutions. The characteristics of these barriers are not understood so this project seeks to clear the way by exploring the demand-side need, considering barriers inside companies and identifying a methodology which is also applicable to other industries.
The focus is on the single-family house turn-key housing segment – as this market is substantial and constitutes the majority of the single-family housing market in Europe.
