Forschungszentrum Jülich conducts research to provide comprehensive solutions to the grand challenges facing society in the three fields of health, energy and environment, and information technology. The aim is to lay the foundation for the key technologies of tomorrow. How will people live longer in the future while remaining healthy as they age? How will society ensure the energy supply and protect the environment at the same time? What does the future as a knowledge society look like? In order to answer these pressing questions, society needs solutions from research – solutions based on completely new ways of thinking that can only be achieved with cutting-edge research tools.
Forschungszentrum Jülich is concerned with these kinds of key technologies, whose benefits are not restricted to the specific needs of isolated disciplines, but instead open new doors for research as a whole. Jülich, one of Europe’s largest interdisciplinary research centres works with partners in science and industry to develop and build these key technologies, to use them for their own research, and make them available to science.
