Smart Sustainable Districts invites Nordic cities to join
Climate-KIC is looking for more Nordic city districts to join our Smart Sustainable Districts programme.
The Smart Sustainable Districts (SSD) programme is working closely with some of the highest profile and aspirational district scale developments in Europe to boost district-wide resource efficiency, reduce energy consumption and address climate change challenges.
What is the SSD programme?
SSD brings together leaders and practitioners from district developments in Europe to deliver solutions that can be implemented, scaled up and replicated within and beyond a network of participating cities. The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London is one of the first districts working on trailing innovative sustainability solutions. As are Docks de Saint-Ouen – Paris, Green Moabit – Berlin, and Utrecht Centre West. Climate-KIC is helping these districts tackle operational problems and strategic challenges that they couldn’t otherwise solve around climate impacts, sustainability and quality of life.
How to get involved?
We seek ambitious Nordic city districts to join our programme. Together we will work across your districts infrastructure e.g. transport, utilities, and the built environment, to address district-wide energy efficiency/resource consumption and optimise the impact of new products, technologies and services. Successful applications to the programme will result in a city district project that is able to demonstrate the climate benefit, the commercial value, and the market opportunities of innovative solutions; for replication in existing and future urban areas worldwide.
