E-mobility and renewable energies are key areas to focus on now and the future. The main problem is due to the inefficient energy transfer in interconnects. Currently a big portion of energy is transferred into heat due to the high resistance of the interconnects used. Lowering this electrical resistance is the challenge, which can be won with a change in manufacturing processes and the usage of silver sintering.

Using sintered silver layers as interconnects in electronic components will dramatically improve physical properties compared to current state of the art technologies. This results in a better performance of power modules, thus more efficient e-cars and renewables. Suppliers of power modules for e-cars can simply substitute current technologies (Pb/Sn - soldering) with our sinter paste without the need of new infrastructure or a complicated process of optimisation.

Uniqueness, Technology overview, barriers to competition

Compared to current technologies we can reduce the electrical resistance by factor of 12, which reduces the heat generated and therefore a better performing e-car with dramatically improved efficiency. There are already some sinter pastes on the market, but all of them have several problems:

- Complex process of implementation
- Complicated handling
- Low performance
- Toxicity

We have solved all of these problems!

Market size and analysis

The overall demand of silver sinter pastes in 2020 is expected to be at least 1000 tons per year (e-mobility, renewables, grid supply, opto-electronics), which leads to a revenue of at least €3 bn. This calculation is only based on the demand of sintered components for 10M e-cars.

We already have two funded projects with industry partners and 50+ tests/ case studies with partners in germany.
