E-mobility and renewable energies are key areas to focus on now and the future. The main problem is due to the inefficient energy transfer in interconnects. Currently a big portion of energy is transferred into heat due to the high resistance of the interconnects used. Lowering this electrical resistance is the challenge, which can be won with a change in manufacturing processes and the usage of silver sintering.

Compared to current technologies we can reduce the electrical resistance by factor of 12, which reduces the heat generated and therefore a better performing e-car with dramatically improved efficiency. There are already some sinter pastes on the market, but all of them have several problems:

The overall demand of silver sinter pastes in 2020 is expected to be at least 1000 tons per year (e-mobility, renewables, grid supply, opto-electronics), which leads to a revenue of at least €3 bn. This calculation is only based on the demand of sintered components for 10M e-cars.
