Climate-KIC participates in Metropolitan Solutions

DATE
31 May 2016

Climate-KIC and Partners will be actively involved in the upcoming Metropolitan Solutions conference (MetSol) next month in Berlin

“Berlin, the capital of Germany, is home to one of the world’s leading urban development summits: Metropolitan Solutions. In 2016, the combined congress and trade fair will again bring together decision-makers and leaders from around the globe for high-level dialogue on current and emerging issues and challenges in innovative, sustainable urban development.”

Smart Cities

Climate-KIC Partner ICELI will be running the ‘Smart CITIES 2.0 conference’ within MetSol, and takes a look at what cities need out of the often technology-focused Smart Cities debate. The conference presents both technical and non-technical solutions to urban challenges, weighs the pros and cons of “green” and “grey” infrastructure and addresses trade-offs between data collection and data security, systems integration and resilience, automation and conscious citizen participation.

Within the programme, two projects supported by Climate-KIC will be presented: Smart Sustainable Districts and OASIS+. In addition, our Development Lead for the Urban Transitions theme, Brian Kilkelly will chair the session on Resilient Cities.

Lunchtime discussion

Our Flagship programme will also be presented in collaboration with another of our innovative projects, the CHORA BrainBox from Berlin Technical University. During a lunchtime talk, the BrainBox interactive table and innovative presentation setting will host a discussion with leaders from our Smart Sustainable Districts (SSD) from across Europe.

If you are planning to be at MetSol, do join us at 12.45pm on 2 June and join the discussion.
