Start-up uses cloud to reduce heating costs

How can we reduce heating costs and still keep our homes warm? Tado° – runner up in the 2012 Climate-KIC Venture Competition – offers a cloud-based solution which allows users to control their heating system on the go, and monitor heating costs in real-time.

Based on a personal encrypted cloud-based Tado° account, cutting-edge algorithms generate a control signal for your heating system. Tado° aggregates real-time data such as user behaviour, home characteristics and local weather conditions. A small, smart wireless microcontroller at home “talks” with the tado° web service, potentially saving up to 30 per cent in heating costs.
