Our organisation

Climate-KIC is a novel community-driven European initiative. Its activities emerge from innovative and creative partnerships between the best available members – global and local, small and large – from the corporate, public and academic worlds.

Climate-KIC activities are managed by five national centres spread across Europe. The Centres’ directors are members of the CEO-steered (operational) Executive Team.

Realisation and implementation of Climate-KIC activities occur at local and regional levels. Public and private partners are essential to this process of experimentation and entrepreneurship. The six Regional Innovation and Implementation Communities (RICs) oversee the test-phase and implementation of innovations at regional level. All RICs are managed by one Steering Group.

The legal form of the Climate-KIC is a non-profit association, the Association Climate-KIC.

A full time CEO and support staff oversee all Climate-KIC operations, strategically steered by a strong Governing Board with representatives of all 20 core partners. In addition to its core partners, Climate-KIC has 91 affiliate partners. Representatives from all core and affiliate partners form the Assembly of the Association.

Our funding

Climate-KIC receives funding from academic and private sector partners, the European Commission, national and regional funding and a grant provided by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
