The website is published by Association Climate-KIC, an Association duly incorporated under the Laws of the Netherlands, with its registered office located at Heidelberglaan 2, 3584 CS Utrecht, registered in Utrecht under the number 52000117 (“Climate-KIC”). These Terms & Conditions operate for the benefit of Climate-KIC, and Climate-KIC partners who contribute to or are involved in the administration, operation and maintenance of the website (“Partners”). References to “we” “us” and “our” in these Terms & Conditions shall refer to Climate-KIC and its Partners.

Accessing the Website

Access to the website is permitted on a temporary basis, and we reserve the right to withdraw or amend the service we provide on the website without notice. We will not be liable if for any reason the website is unavailable at any time or for any period. From time to time, we may restrict access to some parts of the website, or the entire website, to users who have registered with us.

If you choose, or you are provided with, a user identification code, password or any other piece of information as part of our security procedures, you must treat such information as confidential, and you must not disclose it to any third party. We have the right to disable any user identification code or password, whether chosen by you or allocated by us, at any time, if in our opinion you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of these Terms & Conditions.

General Guideline for Usage

Wherever you make use of a feature that allows you to upload material to the website, or make contact with other users of the website, you must comply with the standards set out in our Terms & Conditions and the following General Guidelines for Usage. Best Practices:

• Share the knowledge: Do not hesitate to share your relevant knowledge or experience, as it pertains to Climate-KIC. Adopt the attitude that we all have something to teach, and we all have something to learn.

• Be courteous: Members are reminded that showing courtesy and mutual respect for diverse opinions and new ideas creates an environment of trust where amazing things can happen (such as real innovation in the area climate change).

• Be vigilant: If you notice “off-subject” content, report it using the “Report this” feedback tool available on every page of content.

• Quote your sources: Of course you are going to use other resources to enrich your content or to answer questions, but always quote your sources and ensure that you are not infringing the copyright or other rights of a third party.

• Be clear: Be concise and precise; check your spelling and your grammar. Being professional increases the chances of getting good feedback.

• Tag content: When you publish content always fill in the Tags section of the page. By doing so you ensure that your content will be found by others. The search engine spiders these keywords to produce relevant results.

 

Bad Practices:

• Airing your dirty laundry: Posting aggressive, insulting, offensive, shocking or off-topic comments are strictly prohibited as well as sexually explicit images and comments and will result in your account being revoked.

• Commercial usage: On no account should the community be used as a commercial space. Advertisements for commercial activities will be deleted.

• Malicious intent: Please do not post links to sites containing viruses or malware or which interfere with the functioning of the site.

• Infringing or unlawful content:  You must not post any material within your contributions to the site which is copied from a third party’s work or which otherwise infringes the copyright or other intellectual property rights of any third party.  In addition you will not post any material which is defamatory, or is an invasion of privacy or breach of an obligation of confidentiality.
