Aled has 15 years’ experience in European and regional development issues. He started his career at Torfaen Council on the Objective 1 Structural Fund programme for West Wales and the Valleys. He spent five years at the Welsh Local Government Association office in Brussels, specifically responsible for EU regional, rural and environmental policies and programmes. On returning to the UK, Aled continued working on EU programmes and policies at the Regional Development Agency for the West Midlands. Aled was centrally involved in the development of the Regional Innovation Implementation Communities within the initial Climate-KIC application to the European Institute of Technology. He is now seconded from the University of Warwick to Climate-KIC as the director of the regional communities.
